This is me.

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

I thought I'd use this post to tell you about my business. I'm Sarah and the founder of Hettie's Crafty Creations. I started my business back in August 2020, following a diagnosis of fibromyalgia & hypermobility, which left me unable to work in a regular job. I'm married to Sam, otherwise known as Mr Hettie, mum to 2 grown up children and nanny to 2 beautiful fun loving grandsons.

Having been an avid cross stitcher for 30+ years, I decided that I wanted to turn my hobby into a business. However if someone had told me where my "little business" would be 3 years later, I wouldn't have believed them.

So if I'm called Sarah, then why call my business Hettie's Crafty Creations? To me Sarah is a very common name and so I wanted something that would stand out amongst the crowd. I decided to us the name of the lady who taught me to cross stitch and she is known as Nettie. In Shropshire where I live, there were already a few different businesses with Nettie in their names, so I changed the N to a H and so it all began.

I'm out most weekends at various events, ranging from local craft fairs, County Shows, upto exhibiting at NEC, Hampton Court Palace and Ideal Home Show at Christmas. Recently I've also made my 2nd appearance on Hobby Maker TV, selling my cross stitch kits and although it's a little nerve-wracking, I absolutely love it.

So would I change any of it and have another job, absolutely not. I love meeting different people and going to the wide variety of venues and still get the same excitement when I receive feedback or make a sale. Don't get me wrong it's hard work and isn't for everybody, but I'm so proud of myself and where I've come and can't wait to continue and see where this journey takes me.
